Lansing, MI-The Michigan Civil Rights Commission (MCRC) has announced that they are seeking candidates for the position of Executive Director of the Michigan Department of Civil Rights (MDCR).
"The Commission is seeking a dynamic leader with experience to enforce Michigan civil rights law as required by our Constitution, develop learning initiatives to prevent discrimination in every form, engage all civil rights partners and develop civil rights champions to build a more just, equitable and inclusive future for all Michigan citizens," said MCRC Chair Mike Zelley.
The Executive Director will be responsible for implementing public policy set forth by the Michigan Civil Rights Commission, including providing executive leadership for MDCR and its employees working in five offices throughout the state to enforce civil rights statutes in the State of Michigan. MDCR is responsible for civil rights complaint investigation as well as outreach efforts and educational programs to promote voluntary compliance with civil rights laws.
MDCR is also home to the Michigan Women's Commission, the Hispanic/Latino Commission of Michigan, the Michigan Asian Pacific American Affairs Commission, the Arab Chaldean Council, and the Division on Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
