HR Self-Service New User Guide

Only for State of Michigan employees

Find it

Open Internet Explorer and type in the address bar. This is the HR Gateway page. Click the Favorites button on your tool bar and then Add to Favorites so you won't have to type the web address again.


Log In

Click either: Self-Service from Work Intranet or Self-Service from Home Internet. You'll receive a pop-up warning box; review, then click OK. In the Lawson login box that appears, type:

  • your User Name (the letter h and your seven digit employee ID number, or h zero and your six digit employee ID number).
  • your Password (eight characters, computer generated combination of letters, numbers, and symbols) that you previously received from HRMN Central Security.

Click Login


Home Page

The MI HR Self-Service Home page is displayed. You can:

  • Click a white on blue menu heading on the left margin to access related bookmarks.
  • Click on a bookmark and access that function or get a sub-menu of related options.
  • Enter key words in the upper right hand corner Search box to find related bookmarks.

Click the words MI HR Self Service in the top left corner to bring you back to the Home page.


Log Out

  • Click the logout link in the upper right corner. A pop-up message appears "You have been logged out."
  • Close all the way out of Internet Explorer to your desktop.

Incorrect Information in Self-Service

Executive branch employees should contact the MI HR Service Center. Legislative and Judiciary employees should contact your department or agency Human Resources Office.

Note: If you are no longer an active employee, your Self-Service access will expire in 90 days.

Your Self-Service password protects the confidentiality of your information and the integrity of the state system. You are responsible for protecting your password from unauthorized use. Don't share it with anyone. Don't keep a copy of it by your computer. We recommend changing your password at least every six months. If you have any concern someone may have seen your password, change it immediately.
