Management and HR Consultations/Services

Managers, supervisors, and HR personnel often become aware of employees who are experiencing difficulties that impact their work performance and sometimes the work unit, such as decreased motivation and concentration, time and attendance issues, or coworker conflicts. These challenges and stressors could be related to their personal life, the workplace, or both. The Employee Service Program (ESP) provides confidential consultation to management and HR regarding their concerns for an individual employee and the resources available to them. The goal of these consultations is to provide information and support to management and HR in their efforts to assist an employee, and to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

ESP will provide information on resources available to an employee and their eligible family members, as well as assistance on how to refer an employee to ESP. Helping management and HR personnel gain a better understanding on how to supportively recommend ESP’s confidential, voluntary, and no-cost services to an employee is often the first step in the employee receiving assistance.

If management or HR become aware of concerns that involve an employee who may be at risk for self-harm, this should be handled urgently and consultation with ESP is recommended as soon as possible. However, if the risk concerns are immediate, 911 should be notified.

To consult with ESP regarding grief related concerns, or to get more information about the informational grief sessions, management and HR personnel can contact ESP at 800-521-1377. ESP business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with the exception of state holidays.
