Supports (Includes supports for special populations)

The Supports Action team will determine the program components of the federal programs that will best Identify and develop an entire system of supports that not only addresses the needs of comprehensive and targeted support schools, but all schools in Michigan and their varying needs.   The primary components and the system of support should include these cross-cutting themes:

  • High-needs local educational agencies (LEAs)
  • Partnership model (which considers both internal and external partners)
  • School improvement planning process
  • Consolidated application submission including new ways of thinking about how to simplify funding streams for districts
  • Infrastructure to implement
  • Evidence-based instructional practices
  • Parent, family and community engagement
  • Unique needs of special populations of students (ELs, students with disabilities, migrant, homeless, neglected/delinquent)
  • Access to and integration with early childhood education
  • Wraparound services
  • Infusing technology across the curriculum
