Race to the Top Enhancing GSQ Banner

Michigan worked to increase the availability of high-quality early learning opportunities by expanding access to the quality improvement resources available through GSQ.

Strategies and goals for this project included:early learning educator and two children

  • Encouraging participation of tribal and early childhood special education programs (ECSE/619) in GSQ through system enhancements and stronger relationships with these programs;
  • Streamlining program monitoring efforts to allow licensing consultants to increase focus on improving program quality;
  • Increasing access to high-quality early learning and development programs in Pathways to Potential communities; and
  • Conducting outreach to families in Pathways to Potential communities to increase the percentage of families accessing high-quality early learning and development programs.

Key Licensing Indicator System Webinar

On September 22, 2017, the Michigan Office of Great Start, Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), and the National Association for Regulatory Administration (NARA) held a webinar to help providers, and the state as a whole, learn about the Key Indicator System for child care, and the benefits for providers, the public, and staff.
