Michigan Interagency Coordinating Council
The Michigan Interagency Coordinating Council (MICC) is authorized and required by Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) as amended by Public Law 105-17. The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) is designated as the lead agency for the state of Michigan. The MICC is charged with advising and assisting MDE in the development and implementation of a statewide, comprehensive, coordinated, multidisciplinary, interagency system that provides early intervention services for infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families.
MICC Vision and Mission
Vision - A fully responsive system of quality services, supports, and funding for eligible infants, toddlers, and their families.
Mission - The MICC advises and assists MDE in matters related to Early On and early childhood transitions.
Early On® Vision and Mission
Vision - Infants and toddlers who are enrolled in Early On reach their fullest potential, successfully transitioning to the next phase of life, with empowered and supportive families.
Mission - Early On builds upon and provides supports and resources to assist family members and caregivers to enhance eligible children's learning and development through everyday learning opportunities.
Membership
The MICC is comprised of stakeholders in Michigan's early intervention system. Membership includes the following governor-appointed members: parents of infants or toddlers with disabilities, individuals representing public or private providers of early intervention services, an individual representing the Michigan Legislature, a Head Start program representative, a personnel preparation representative, state agency administrators, and other representatives. Meetings
MICC meetings provide members, families, partners, grantees, and concerned citizens the opportunity to comment on Michigan's system of early intervention. These meetings are also an opportunity for members and other interested parties to participate, in person, in the work of the MICC. All meetings are open to the public. Reasonable accommodations are available upon request. Special accommodations, including interpreter and translator services, should be requested at least two weeks prior to a scheduled meeting. For meeting information or to request special accommodations, contact the Office of Great Start/Early Childhood Development and Family Education at 517-241-7004. All meetings are held at the Michigan Department of Education in Lansing unless otherwise noted on the agenda.
