School Improvement Grant (SIG) Section 1003(g)
School Improvement Grant (SIG) Information
The SIG was authorized under Title I, Part A, Section 1003(g) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, as amended (ESEA). SIG awards were intended to provide adequate resources in order to substantially raise the achievement of students in the lowest-performing schools. New SIG awards were discontinued with the passage of the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA). Active grantees were allowed to continue their Program through the end of their respective grant period. The SIG Program will cease altogether on September 30, 2022.
