Online Instructional Resources - General Resources

  • ActiveEd is offering free access to their Walkabouts Active Learning Platform until September.

  • Crayola is reaching out to let families know they are committed to helping them and educators navigate this new education landscape of "Learning at a distance". In this time of great uncertainty, students need the assurance of normalcy and new ways of bringing creative learning into their home-bound daily routines. It is Crayola's intent to "Show Up" and remain engaged and connected by providing resources that support the goal of improving learning at a distance through multi modalities, with a student population where there are disparities in access to technology.

Crayola has curated several resources in support of the current at-home learning. Crayola's At Home creative Learning Hub includes the following free resources:

  • On-Demand Access to More than 1,700 Crayola Plans
  • Creative At-Home Learning Webinars
  • Create-to-Learn Family Project videos accompanied by standards-based plans
  • 52 weeks of Creative Parent Handout Ideas

  • Detroit Public TV provides essential educational resources to caregivers during the Coronavirus crisis.

  • Discovery Education offers online virtual modules for students, professional development for educators, and support for parents. These resources are offered at no cost through the remainder of the academic year.

  • Edgenuity is offering free and discounted options for districts to include free access to thousands of free math instructional videos for 2-12 and ELA 3-8, along with printable resources for a variety of grade levels. Discounted short term access to online courses and supplemental content is also available.

  • Edmentum would like to provide free program access to Study Island for Home, two free months of access to Study Island, or two free courses in EdOptions Academy to any school or district who has shut down due to this virus.

  • English Learners Resources for meeting the needs of ELs in an online environment.

  • #GoOpen Michigan is a community of educators and learners who access and contribute free, openly licensed, high-quality digital resources to enable equitable transformative learning experiences.

  • Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) is offering schools and families a comprehensive collection of high-quality resources to help keep students engaged and learning safely. Get flexible program access, free lessons and activities, and more. Click the link for At-Home Learning Support.

  • Imagine Learning Suite of online PreK-8 Literacy, Math and Assessment solutions ignites engagement, maximizes personal relevance, amplifies confidence, and inspires breakthroughs for all learners.

  • Michigan eLibrary: The Michigan eLibrary will provide all Michigan residents with free access to online full-text articles, full-text books, digital images, and other valuable research information at any time via the Internet; and provide an easy-to-use interlibrary loan system to allow Michigan residents to borrow books and other library materials for free from participating Michigan libraries.?

  • Michigan Virtual: Provides a link to a variety of free resources designed to help schools evaluate and prepare for providing students with learning continuity.??

  • Project Based Learning (PBL) is a teaching method where students learn by engaging in real-world, meaningful projects. Background and resources are available to educators by the Buck Institute for Education.

  • The Attorney General’s Office offers internet safety resources.  These resources can help parents and educators ensure our students remain safe online while they continue with their learning. This site also offers other resources and various crises tip lines.

  • The Henry Ford opens classroom curriculum and resources for FREE to students everywhere.

  • The Office of K-12 Outreach at Michigan State University compiled a "COVID-19 Quarantine" document full of different FREE resources such as websites, articles, and activities. This resource may help districts, teachers, and families navigate these unique times.

  • WKAR At-Home Learning: Responding to the need for educational resources for students as schools close due to the coronavirus, WKAR is partnering with PBS, the WORLD Channel, and the Michigan Association of Public Broadcasters to bring Michigan viewers expanded At-Home Learning programming and additional resources. The daily free-over-the-air broadcasts will feature the best in public media science, history and other educational programming.
