Teaching US History Toolkit

The Teaching U.S. History Toolkit (HTK) is designed to “provide professional development regarding the teaching of the full and complex American history across subject areas including the history of communities of color and other marginalized communities.” Section 1102 of Public Act 119 of 2023.

Hosting a variety of publicly available teacher- and student-centered resources, the HTK aims to empower, equip, and inspire K-12 educators and leaders to creating learning opportunities that best support the implementation of Michigan's K-12 Social Studies Content Expectations. The HTK website was designed and created for and in collaboration with K-12 social studies teachers, community members and cultural centers, parents, and academics.

Resources on the HTK website are vetted by a guidance team comprising members of the above. The work is ongoing, so resources are continually being added to the website. If you have any suggestions of resources to be included, please use the form linked on the HTK website.
