How to Apply

As a continued part of Michigan’s efforts to grow and diversify the educator workforce and reduce educator shortages, the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) is excited to continue the Future Proud Michigan Educator (Future PME) Campaign with grants to create or expand EXPLORE courses for students in grades 6-12.

Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and Intermediate School Districts (ISDs) are welcome to apply by completing the following steps:

  1. Review the Future PME EXPLORE website to determine your school’s interest in Explore programming.  This 5-minute video is a helpful place to start.
  2. Establish or confirm your access to MiLogin. Login and request access to Grant Electronic Monitoring System/Michigan Administrative Review System (GEMS/MARS).
  3. After accessing GEMS/MARS, find the Questionnaire titled 2022 FPME EXPLORE application and click the "view questionnaire" icon.
  4. Review the required information and draft your responses in a document you can save for future reference.
  5. Consult the fund expenditure suggestions and the sample budget to consider your intended use of grant funds.
  6. Notify your business office of your intent to apply for this grant.  The business office should be able to assist with function codes in your budget.
  7. Draft a budget that uses any of the function codes on the sample budget, with total amounts and descriptions associated with each expense.
  8. Transfer your information to the online GEMS/MARS application and click submit.
  9. Direct questions to MDE-PME@Michigan.gov.
