Summer learning programs play a critical role in advancing students’ whole child growth and success. Recognizing that summer is a time of endless possibilities for learning and enrichment, the Michigan Department of Education is advancing funding opportunities and strategic partnerships to expand access to high-quality summer programming for students across the state.

Michigan is part of a Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) and National Summer Learning Association (NSLA) nine states State Summer Learning Network, a network of states focused on system-based strategies to transform and improve summer learning. Through the Michigan SSLN, Michigan Department of Education staff and their partners work to pursue a vision of “school districts and community-based organizations working hand in hand to have a lasting impact on whole child growth and success during the summer months and beyond.”
