In June 2021, Rule 340.1708 of the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (PDF) was updated in response to a memorandum issued by the United States Department of Education Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services. This rule covers Visual Impairment (VI).
A new Q&A document was recently created to answer questions on implementing the updated rule. This document was developed by the Michigan Department of Education - Low Incidence Outreach in collaboration with the Office of Special Education and Office of Great Start.
