The Michigan Commission on Services to the Aging and the Michigan Office of Services to the Aging are accepting nominations for the 2005 Senior Citizen of the Year Award.
“The Senior Citizen of the Year Award highlights the contributions to civic and social life made by Michigan seniors,” said Sharon L. Gire, Director of the Michigan Office of Services to the Aging. “We take great pride in the impressive qualities exhibited by seniors throughout our state and this award provides an opportunity to highlight two remarkable nominees.”
The Award is given in two categories - leadership in the community and service provided to others. Winners will be invited to attend an award ceremony at the Michigan State Fair Seniors’ Day on Monday, August 15, 2005. Nominees must be age 60 or older at the time of nomination. Selections will be made with particular attention to the nominee’s service or leadership rendered in the past year.
Nomination forms are available by contacting the Michigan Office of Services to the Aging at 517-373-8230 or by visiting www.miseniors.net. Nominations must be submitted by an organization and must be postmarked by Friday, July 15, 2005.
