The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has summarily suspended the nursing license (L.P.N.) of Rhonda L. Preston, due to her misdemeanor conviction in the 57th Judicial District Court, Allegan County, Michigan.
Preston failed to report her convictions to MDCH as required by the Public Health Code. On April 6, 2004, Preston was convicted of Controlled Substance Use (Narcotic/Cocaine/Methamphetamine/Ecstasy) after she was found in possession of a device used for smoking methamphetamine. Preston was placed on probation for a period of 12 months and was ordered to pay fines, costs and fees totaling $1,750.00.
On June 9, 2004, MDCH issued an order summarily suspending Preston’s license according to the Public Health Code, which provides for the mandatory immediate suspension of a health professional upon the conviction of a misdemeanor involving the illegal delivery, possession, or use of a controlled substance. An administrative hearing will be scheduled to address the status of Preston’s license.
