Blood Spot Research 

Dried blood spots are used to improve current newborn screening tests and to develop new screening tests for other conditions. They can also be used for medical and public health research to better understand underlying causes of disease and possible interventions to improve health outcomes.

This table provides a summary and current status of research requesting blood spots from Michigan.

Three additional studies were submitted during 2017 but are still undergoing the review and approval process. Once these studies are fully approved, the research table will be updated for 2017.
