Perinatal Hepatitis B Prevention Program (PHBPP)

Perinatal Hepatitis B Pathway Prevention To identify hepatitis B surface antigen-positive (HBsAg-positive) persons prenatally or at delivery for each pregnancy CDC Vaccine Storage and Handling Toolkit so that their infants, household, and sexual contacts can be tested and treated to prevent the spread of the hepatitis B virus (HBV).

Reporting HBsAg-positive Pregnant Persons to the LHD
Important for health care providers who test pregnant persons to report all HBsAg-positive test results (for every pregnancy) within 24 hours of discovery or diagnosis to the LHD in the county where the patient resides. (Even if they were reported for a previous pregnancy).
