Lewis Roubal, Chief Deputy Director for Opportunity

Lewis Roubal is chief deputy director for opportunity for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, where he oversees the department’s efforts to provide food and Medicaid assistance to residents in need.

Roubal is a 20-year veteran of MDHHS who has held leadership positions at the department for more than a decade. As a Business Services Center director at MDHHS, he previously was responsible for delivering child welfare and adult and economic stability assistance to residents across 18 counties. In 2019, he served for several months on temporary assignment helping to renegotiate the Modified Implementation Sustainability and Exit Plan at the Children’s Services Agency. Earlier in his career, Roubal served as a Family Independence specialist and as director of the Mecosta/Osceola county office.

In his current position, Roubal works with the department’s Economic Stability Administration and others to deliver benefits as quickly as possible in a way to minimize stress for clients. He also oversees the Office of Child Support, Bureau of Community Action and adult services field staff.

He is a graduate of the Ferris State University with a bachelor of science and master in science in criminal justice.
