The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will invest $3.4 million to mill and resurface 2.3 miles of M-1 (Woodward Avenue) between 14 Mile Road and Quarton Road/Big Beaver Road.
The project includes pavement conditioning, replacing asphalt, repairing curbs and gutters, upgrading sidewalk ramps to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, modernizing the traffic signal at Oak Avenue (including pedestrian signals), drainage structure repairs, and pavement markings.
Safety will be improved for drivers and pedestrians with a smoother riding surface and improved drainage, plus the addition of ADA sidewalks and push buttons at intersections.

During the daytime, one lane will be closed in each direction for work on sidewalks, curbs, and ramps. There will be limited closures of crossovers to complete the work.
Nighttime and weekend work will involve closing multiple lanes for the majority of the milling and resurfacing work.
