PROJECT:
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will invest $29.5 million to rebuild 4.2 miles of I-75 from North Union Road to Beaver Road. Work includes structural and pavement improvements to 11 bridges, including full bridge deck replacements at Wilder Road, Mackinaw Road, and Chip Road.

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS:
Throughout the project, traffic will be maintained with lane closures, traffic shifts, and a moveable barrier wall that will accommodate an additional driving lane on I-75 in the peak direction of travel. Use of the moveable barrier wall will help to maintain heavy weekend traffic patterns.

Mackinaw Road and Chip Road are currently closed to traffic and detoured via M-13 and 7 Mile Road, and M-13 and Beaver Road. Overnight closures on I-75 to accommodate demolition work to Mackinaw and Chip roads are expected April 15-18 between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.; during those closures, I-75 traffic will be detoured via M-13.

Beginning mid-May, the I-75 ramps to Beaver Road will be closed with a posted detour. During I-75 bridge work over Beaver Road, Beaver Road traffic will be closed at the overpass and I-75 traffic will be detoured. Overnight I-75 closures at Beaver Road are expected between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. and will be announced in advance.

Following the completion of Mackinaw and Chip roads, Wilder Road will be closed and detoured via 2 Mile Road, Midland Road, and 3 Mile Road. The Wilder Road closure will be announced in advance of work starting.

Traffic will be maintained on Wheeler Road under I-75 with temporary signals during work on the overpass.

SAFETY BENEFITS:
This work will provide a smoother driving surface on I-75 with significant structural improvements to several bridges, extending the life of the roadway.
