US-31 traffic change in Petoskey to start next week

PROJECT:
During the next phase of the Michigan Department of Transportation's (MDOT) project to reconstruct and realign US-31 between the Mitchell Street Bridge and Fairview Avenue, crews will begin reconstructing the highway between the bridge and Lake Street.

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS:
This next phase will require that southbound US-31 traffic be detoured on Lake Street and Ingalls Avenue, back to US-31. Westbound traffic on Mitchell Street bound for US-31 will be routed north on Petoskey Street and Lake Street to US-31.

Northbound US-31 traffic will remain detoured on Mitchell Street, Division Street, Arlington Avenue, and MacDonald Drive until late June.

SAFETY FEATURES:
This project will help ensure the stability of US-31 and will include additional guardrail and new pavement markings.
