The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will invest $2.7 million to resurface US-24 (Telegraph Road) between Pennsylvania Road and Dix-Toledo Road, with local access to Carter Road. Work will be performed on weekends, with one lane of US-24 open in one direction while the other direction is closed and detoured via I-75 and Dix-Toledo Road, four separate weekends for each direction.
The current condition of the shoulders on US-24, in addition to typical traffic levels, does not allow for those to be used as temporary lanes during construction.

The southbound lanes will be worked on first, closing for four consecutive weekends, depending on the weather. During the southbound closure, northbound traffic will have one lane open. Once the southbound lanes are done, then the northbound lanes will be closed for four consecutive weeks to complete work on that side of the road, with one southbound lane open. The project is expected to be finished in the fall.
This work will provide a smoother, safer driving surface, extending the overall life of the roadway. This selected traffic pattern will ensure a safer work zone for motorists, workers, and local businesses.
