BACKGROUND:
In 2019, MDOT will be rebuilding the I-94 BL (Stadium Drive)/Howard Street intersection near the Western Michigan University campus in Kalamazoo. The tentative plans call for dual left-turn lanes to be added from Howard Street to eastbound and westbound Stadium Drive, as well as from Stadium Drive to northbound Howard Street. Plans also include adding right-turn lanes on eastbound and westbound Stadium Drive, as well as from southbound Howard Street to westbound Stadium Drive. Planned reconstruction includes the Amtrak railroad crossing, new traffic signals and new railroad warning devices.
