US-131 BR repaving starts Monday in downtown Kalamazoo

April 10, 2018 -- On Monday, April 16, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will start repaving US-131 Business Route (BR) (North Westnedge Avenue and North Park Street) from Michigan Avenue to Hopkins Street in downtown Kalamazoo.

The $900,000 investment includes sidewalk and pedestrian ramp reconstruction, new curb and gutters, and pavement markings. Construction is expected to be completed Friday, Aug. 10, and will include weekend and nighttime work.

There will be lane closures for construction, and traffic will be maintained with traffic shifts. Sidewalk closures for reconstruction will require pedestrian detours at signalized intersections.
