US-2 Cut River Bridge work wraps up for season
December 20, 2018 -- Painting work at the Heath M. Robinson Memorial Cut River Bridge on US-2 in Mackinac County will be suspended for the season Friday, Dec. 21.
All temporary traffic control devices will be removed and both lanes on the bridge will be reopened. One lane has been closed on the bridge during the ongoing $4.8 million Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) repair and painting project.
On Friday, crews will suspend work cleaning and coating the steel bridge, with the remaining work to be completed in the spring. Work is expected to resume in late March and should be completed in June.
The roadside park at the bridge is closed for the season and will remain closed until the painting work is completed. Pedestrian traffic underneath the bridge will continue to be prohibited for safety reasons.
