The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is wrapping up a long-term repair project on I-696 between Dequindre Road and I-94 in Macomb County. The work has included restoring the crossover locations, repairing barrier walls, freeway lighting, sewer work, joint sealing, installing asphalt shoulders, and finishing diamond grinding. The work on the I-696 service drives to repair the pavement surface and replace curb and sidewalks is continuing.
MDOT understands the impact this type of major work has on motorists and works as quickly and as safely as possible to get the job done. This work will improve safety and provide a smoother driving surface.
