M-13/M-84 (Lafayette St.) Bascule Bridge - Bay City
MDOT is preparing an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the proposed replacement of the M-13/M-84 (Lafayette Street) bridge in Bay City. A 2014 feasibility study determined that the benefits of replacing the bridge outweigh the impacts and cost of repairing the structure as MDOT did in 1987. MDOT’s proposal also includes improving the geometrics of the drawbridge and accommodating non-motorized traffic. The majority of the improvements would be done within the existing right-of-way, with a 24-month detour involving M-13 (Euclid Avenue), M-25 (7th Street/ Jenny Street/Thomas Street), and M-84 (Washington Avenue).
