I-94 Jackson Modernization Project
Local, national and international trade traffic on I-94 in Jackson has increased substantially since the freeway opened to traffic in 1960. The current corridor is, in part, functionally obsolete and is scheduled to be upgraded to current design standards in the next seven to ten years. The goal of the project is to balance safety, mobility, lifecycle costs, aesthetics, and environmental sustainability. A Context Sensitive Solutions (CSS) process is under way to develop solutions to improve the physical setting. Early and continuous public and agency involvement will serve to establish a clear understanding of community values.
