Bair, Brent O.
Brent Bair was the managing director of the Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) from 1993 to 2011. In addition to being the largest county road system in Michigan, RCOC also operates the second-largest system of adaptive traffic signals in the United States. Under Bair's leadership, the RCOC became a national model for this technology, demonstrating effective use and paving the way for future systems in other locations. Bair also advocated for adequate road and bridge funding at the local, state and federal levels, the use of data to create a statewide comparison of road and bridge needs, and asset management. In addition, he was president and board member of the County Road Association of Michigan, president and board member of the Intelligent Transportation Society of Michigan (ITS Michigan), and chairman and board member of the Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America). Bair served on the state's Citizens Advisory Committee to the Transportation Funding Task Force from 2008 to 2009.
