Regional Prosperity Initiative (RPI)

  • The Regional Prosperity Initiative (RPI) was established in 2013 to help accelerate the state’s economy and improve the quality of life for Michiganders by more effectively leveraging resources at a regional level.

After five years of RPI grants, many regions have successfully collaborated on workforce development, economic development, and asset mapping initiatives. Two regions have merged boards and reduced overlapping responsibilities, streamlining planning and service delivery, while others have forged collaborative relationships as they develop new regional identities.

A long-standing governor’s priority, the RPI has a mission to encourage local private, public, and nonprofit partners to collaborate to create vibrant regional economies.
