Commissioner Heath E. Salisbury, (I) of Gaines, was appointed by Gov. Gretchen Witmer effective April 8, 2022.
Heath Salisbury of Genesee County is the financial secretary and director of transportation and infrastructure for the Operating Engineers of Michigan, where he also serves on the Executive Board and Select Committee, and is a trustee of that organization’s $1.6 billion pension fund. Salisbury also serves as a Wayne County Sheriff reserve C.E.R.T. officer. He is a principal executive with more than 26 years of construction industry and executive management leadership experience, and is a specialist in heavy and highway infrastructure work on state and federal projects in Michigan. Salisbury also has 22 years of labor and management leadership in field operations, supervision, administrative, and fiscal responsibilities, with extensive knowledge in performance management, labor relations, and customer service in the public and private markets.
Salisbury also assists in managing a 14,000-member statewide organization, including labor relations partnerships with more than 500 industry contractor partners. He is a lead contact between the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) and construction industry for Operating Engineers.
