2022 MDOT Advance Training Wheels

This virtual online course on the newest planning and designs for on-road bicycle facilities will be split into two days. It consists of state and national guidance, showcases Michigan communities, and analyzes various types of bicycle accommodations including separated and buffered bike lanes. An optional Q&A session will be held immediately after the second day of training.

This course is for city, county, and MDOT managers, engineers, planners, elected officials, DDA staff, economic development staff, township officials, Chamber of Commerce, and other stakeholders that can help educate people about on-road bicycle facilities. 

Engineers may be eligible up to eight Continuing Education Credits. Planners may self-report up to eight Certification Maintenance hours.

Class is intended to have a virtual bike ride. A route map and notes will be provided in advance of the class. It is not necessary to ride before class but is highly recommended. Virtual bike routes provided in coordination with cities, local agencies, advocacy groups, and Toole Design.

This course is provided free by MDOT.
