US-8 bridge set to reopen Monday
October 3, 2019 -- The US-8 bridge over the Menominee River near Norway is set to reopen Monday, Oct. 7.
Northbound and southbound US-8 has been closed at the bridge and detoured. The detour currently in place was originally planned to be lifted Sept. 13, but the bridge is now expected to be reopened to traffic on Monday, weather permitting.
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) are investing about $2.4 million to replace the bridge deck and railing and paint structural steel on the bridge over the Menominee River at the Michigan-Wisconsin state line. The project fell behind schedule due to several construction operations that took longer to complete than originally anticipated.
