PROJECT:
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing about $580,000 to reconstruct three railroad crossings in Alger and Schoolcraft counties at the following locations:
- M-28 near the Anna River in Munising, Alger County.
- M-28 between Munising and Shingleton in Alger County.
- M-149 north of US-2 near Thompson in Schoolcraft County.
A map of the project areas is available on Mi Drive.
TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS:
Traffic at the two M-28 crossings will be maintained with temporary roadways. The temporary road near the Anna River will have one alternating lane open via temporary traffic signal. The other M-28 crossing will be maintained as two through-lanes. The M-149 crossing will require a posted detour through Manistique.
SAFETY BENEFITS:
This project will result in a smoother driving surface and increased safety.
