COUNTY:
Kent

HIGHWAY:
US-131

CLOSEST CITY:
Byron Center

START DATE:
Monday, March 23, 2020

ESTIMATED END DATE:
October 2020

PROJECT DETAILS:
In partnership with the Kent County Road Commission and Byron Township, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing approximately $8.6 million to rebuild and improve the 100th St. bridge over US-131 in southern Kent County.

TRAFFIC IMPACT:
100th Street will be closed between S. Kent Drive and Division Avenue with traffic detoured on Clyde Park Avenue, 84th Street, and Division Avenue.

Traffic will be maintained on US-131 with traffic shifts and lane closures. Short-term closures for bridge demolition, beam setting, and paving will be in effect on US-131. Traffic will exit and re-enter the highway using the 100th Street off and on ramps.

Alternating ramp closures will be in effect and traffic detoured to the adjacent interchanges at 142nd Avenue to the south and 84th Street to the north.

SAFETY BENEFITS:
This project will extend the service life of the bridge, increase safety and improve the efficiency of the interchange.
