The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will invest nearly $5.3 million to rebuild 1.7 miles of US-31 from the M-115 intersection to south of the Betsie River in the village of Benzonia. This project includes removing and replacing the asphalt pavement, new concrete curb and gutter, new sidewalk ramps, new culverts, sewer, and drainage improvements.
This work will require lane shifts and lane closures controlled with temporary traffic signals. Construction will also require intermittent closures of local streets at US-31.
This project includes new pavement markings and guardrail, as well as new sidewalk ramps built to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
