M-53 resurfacing in Huron County starts April 27

PROJECT:
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will invest $832,000 to resurface 0.2 miles of M-53 at Atwater Road. Work includes concrete curb and gutter, drainage, maintenance on the bridge over the Pigeon River, and widening for a center left-turn lane to improve traffic operations and safety at the intersection.

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS:
One lane of M-53 will be open with traffic moderators during daytime hours.
Atwater Road will be detoured for up to five days to accommodate widening of the road via Bay City Forestville Road, Bad Axe Road, and Atwater Road.
SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS:
This work will improve the safety and operations of the intersection and extend the life of the bridge.
