ESTIMATED START DATE:
Saturday, May 9, 2020
ESTIMATED COMPLETION DATE:
Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing approximately $60 million to improve I-496 between I-96 and Lansing Road. Waverly Road reconstruction between Lansing Road and Saint Joseph Street, including construction of a shared use path, will begin on Saturday. This work is part of the ongoing I-496 Pave the Way Project.
For more information about the project, go to www.Michigan.gov/496Lansing.
The northbound lanes of Waverly Road will be closed from Lansing Road to the I-496 entrance and exit ramps for the duration of this work. Drivers are encouraged to follow the posted detour. Waverly Road traffic will be maintained in each direction from the westbound I-496 exit ramp to Saint Joseph Street. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes.
These improvements will provide increased safety and mobility in this area of the I-496, which is a significant local and national trade corridor.
This road construction project is an essential function. Transportation workers in the field follow Centers for Disease Control guidelines to limit their risk of getting sick.
