Northbound M-19 closing near I-94 in Macomb County for a month for road work
COUNTY:
Macomb
ROADWAY:
M-19 (New Haven Road/Washington Street)
CLOSEST COMMUNITIES:
Chesterfield Township
New Baltimore
New Haven
START DATE:
Monday, June 1, 2020
END DATE:
Tuesday, June 30, 2020
PROJECT DETAILS:
A passing lane is being added to northbound M-19 at the on ramp to I-94 to eliminate back-ups due to drivers waiting to turn left onto westbound I-94. The work requires the contractor to close northbound M-19 while maintaining southbound M-19 traffic throughout the project.
Along with this work, the carpool lot off 25 Mile Road will receive a pavement surface treatment to improve the condition of the lot. This work will require two weekend closures, tentatively planned for June 12-14 and June 19-21.
TRAFFIC DETAILS:
Northbound M-19 will be closed from Baker Road to 25 Mile Road near I-94. The eastbound I-94 ramp to M-19 (New Haven Road) will also be closed.
DETOURS:
For northbound M-19, traffic will use southbound Baker Road to westbound 23 Mile Road, then eastbound I-94 to westbound 26 Mile Road, back to M-19. Northbound M-19 traffic heading for westbound I-94, will also follow southbound Baker Road to westbound 23 Mile Road to access westbound I-94.
For the eastbound I-94 exit ramp closure at M-19, traffic will continue on eastbound I-94 to exit at westbound 26 Mile Road to get to M-19.
ESSENTIAL WORK:
This road construction project is an essential function. Transportation workers in the field follow Centers for Disease Control guidelines to limit their risk of getting sick.
