MDOT public meeting May 12 to discuss US-2 project in Bessemer

BESSEMER, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) invites the public to a meeting regarding the second year of the US-2 rebuilding project in Bessemer, Gogebic County. During this meeting, there will be a brief presentation followed by a question-and-answer session.

Background: 
MDOT, in conjunction with the city of Bessemer, is investing about $9.9 million to rebuild 2.7 miles of US-2 from Powdermill Creek to east of Cedar Avenue through the city of Bessemer. The work will include reconfiguring lanes to add a center left-turn lane, storm sewer improvements, and city sanitary sewer and water main replacements. Work is expected to begin in late May and be completed this fall. This project includes a five-year materials and workmanship pavement warranty.
