Lifts, closure for Portage Lake Lift Bridge work set for tomorrow
October 11, 2022
HOUGHTON, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will be performing maintenance work on the Portage Lake Lift Bridge between Houghton and Hancock Wednesday, Oct. 12, that will require bridge moves and a brief closure to traffic.
The bridge is planned to be moved to its lower position around 6 a.m. and raised back to the intermediate position later in the day. These moves will result in brief delays for vehicle, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic.
A full closure of the bridge, expected to last about 10 minutes, will also be required.
This maintenance work will help ensure continued safe and reliable operation of the bridge.
