I-196 Business Spur and M-11 Resurfacing Project - Kent County

Start: April 2022     End: July 2022

What Is Being Done?
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing approximately $2.4 million to improve over 4 miles of M-11 (28th Street) from I-196 to US-131, and 1 mile of the I-196 Business Spur (BS) (Chicago Drive) from Burlingame Avenue to Clyde Park Avenue in the cities of Grandville and Wyoming. Work also includes updating sidewalks to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.

How Traffic Will Be Affected
Lane closures and traffic shifts will be in effect throughout the project.  Eastbound and westbound I-196 BS will be closed and detoured for approximately two weeks.

When Will This be Done
Work begins in April and is expected to be finished in July.

Safety Benefit
This project will improve the ride quality and mobility for all motorists, while extending the service life of the roadway. The ADA sidewalk upgrades will help increase safety for all residents.
