Marshall Modernization
MDOT is initiating an environmental study on proposed improvements for M-96 (Michigan Avenue), I-94, I-69, as well as the interchanges of I-69 at M-96, I-69 at I-94, and I-94 at M-311 in Emmett and Marshall townships and the city of Marshall in Calhoun County.
The proposed project will accommodate a large development site south of M-96 for the Ford BlueOval Battery Park Michigan. The Ford Motor Co. recently announced construction of a 2.5 million square foot electric vehicle battery manufacturing facility on the Marshall Megasite.
MDOT is receiving $330 million for the road work from the Michigan Strategic Outreach and Attraction Reserve (SOAR) fund.
Funding for this project came from bipartisan reauthorization signed by Gov. Whitmer in October 2022 and does not come from the MDOT budget.
