US-31 Rebuilding Project - Allegan County
Start: March End: November 2022

What Is Being Done
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing approximately $25 million to rebuild 3 miles of northbound and southbound US-31 from I-196 north to Central Avenue in the city of Holland, Allegan County. Work also includes culvert replacement, sewer and drainage improvements and bridge work. The majority of this work is funded by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s Rebuilding Michigan program.
Work begins this March and is expected to be finished this November.
How Traffic Will Be Affected
Northbound US-31 will be closed and detoured east on I-196 and then north onto M-40. Once northbound US-31 is rebuilt, southbound US-31 traffic will be crossed over to the northbound side.
Safety Benefit
This project will improve the ride and is a long-term investment for the service life of the corridor.
