Knowing how to sew in the 19th century was a must! Both men and women learned from an early age how to sew on buttons, mend or make clothing, make a sack to carry supplies and the list goes on.

Today, you will learn how to choose colors and patterns, basic nine-patch construction, and simple quilting stitches to complete your individualized project. If you have a sewing machine please bring it, but a machine is not required.

must be 12 or older and accompanied by an adult if under 17.

Cambridge Junction Historic State Park—one of the Michigan History Center's museums and historic sites—is located 35 miles west of Ann Arbor, at the junction of U.S. 12 and M-50; a Recreation Passport is required for park entry. Read more Cambridge Junction visitor information.
