Please allow two hours for your visit to the fort. The park also offers camping, picnicking, hiking, and other seasonal activities.
2024 Season Dates and Hours
Fort Wilkins is open daily, dawn to dusk, from May 15 through Oct. 15. Visitors can experience costumed interpretation of life at the fort June 10 through Aug. 23.
The Copper Harbor Lighthouse is only accessible by charter boat through Noah's Ark Charters. Tours must be booked directly with the charter company. Times may vary.
Admission
Admission to Fort Wilkins is free; however, a Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry to the park. Free parking is available in the park.
There is a fee associated with the charter boat tour for the Copper Harbor Lighthouse. Visit the website to learn more.

Fort Wilkins is located in Fort Wilkins Historic State Park, one mile east of Copper Harbor on U.S. 41.

Photography
Personal photography without flash for private use is permitted in the visitor center and on the grounds. Photographs may not be published, sold or otherwise distributed for commercial purposes.
Photography for weddings and other special events is allowed on the grounds and in the buildings during regular open hours with advance permission. Please contact us in advance to schedule a time.
Accessibility
Fifteen buildings at Fort Wilkins are accessible. Designated parking is available. Service animals are always welcomed.
Pets
Pets accompanied by and under the control of their human friends are welcomed on the grounds of this site. Pets may not enter any building. See Department of Natural Resources rules and other information on Pet-Friendly Recreation.
