Higgins Lake Nursery and CCC Museum Visitor Information

Please allow one hour to tour the museum and the outdoor exhibits. The park offers the Historic Higgins Lake Nursery, camping, picnicking, hiking, and swimming.
2024 Season Dates and Hours
North Higgins Lake State Park is open year-round, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Higgins Lake Nursery and CCC Museum are open on the following schedule:
- May 1-26: By appointment
- May 27-Sept. 2: Seven days a week, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sept. 3-Oct. 31: By appointment
Admission and parking
Admission is free; however, a Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry to the park. Parking is available in the park.
Location
The Higgins Lake Nursery and CCC Museum is located in North Higgins Lake State Park near Roscommon, 15 miles south of Grayling, along Roscommon Road. Exit from I-75 or U.S. 127.

Amenities
While visiting the Higgins Lake Nursery and CCC Museum, the following amenities are available:
- Vault toilets on the grounds
- Running water and full restrooms are available across the street at state park main entrance
- Hiking trails - get tips on how to Recreate Responsibly
- Picnic areas
Photography
Personal photography without flash for private use is permitted in the buildings and on the grounds. Photographs may not be published, sold or otherwise distributed for commercial purposes.
Photography for weddings and other special events is allowed on the grounds and in the buildings during regular open hours with advance permission. Please contact us in advance to schedule a time.
Accessibility
All public buildings are accessible. Designated parking is available. Trails through interpretive areas are graded and constructed of crushed limestone gravel. Service animals are always welcomed.
Pets
Pets accompanied by and under the control of their human friends are welcomed on the grounds of this site. Pets may not enter any building. See Department of Natural Resources rules and other information on Pet-Friendly Recreation.
