Hartwick Pines Logging Museum Visitor Information
Please allow two hours to tour the museum exhibits and forest trail. The park also offers camping, picnicking, biking, and other seasonal activities.
2022 Season Dates and Hours
Hartwick Pines State Park is open year-round. The logging museum is open daily on the following schedule:
- April 30 - May 27: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- May 28 - September 4: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- September 5 - October 30: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Michigan Forest Visitor Center is also located within Hartwick Pines State Park.
Admission to the logging museum is free; however, a Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry to the park. Free parking is available in the park.
Hartwick Pines Logging Museum is located in Hartwick Pines State Park, eight miles northeast of Grayling on M-93. From I-75, take exit 259.

While visiting Hartwick Pines State Park, the following amenities are available:
- Full restrooms in the Michigan Forest Visitor Center and vault toilets on the museum grounds
- Michigan Forest Visitor Center
- Gift Shop
- Hiking trails
- Picnic areas
Personal photography without flash for private use is permitted in the buildings and on the grounds. Photographs may not be published, sold or otherwise distributed for commercial purposes.
Photography for weddings and other special events is allowed on the grounds and in the buildings during regular open hours with advance permission. Please contact us in advance to schedule a time.
The visitor center and logging museum are barrier-free. The Old-Growth Forest Trail is paved but includes two steep grades. A wheelchair may be borrowed, subject to availability. Service animals are always welcomed.
Pets accompanied by and under the control of their human friends are welcome on the grounds of this site. Pets may not enter any building. For more information, please see the Department of Natural Resources Pet-Friendly Rules.
