Beverly Watts

Beverly Watts of Detroit is the director of the Public Services in Wayne County, she oversees the County's largest department, which is comprised of six divisions. Ms. Watts is responsible for developing a strategic infrastructure plan for the County roads, bridges, parkland, and environmental services. She manages over 630 employees with an annual budget exceeding $300 million dollars. She joined Wayne County in 2003 and was appointed director in 2016.

In 2018 the department of Public Services was awarded full accreditation by the American Public Works Association (APWA) for their standard operating procedures, making them the first County Road agency to receive this honor.

Ms. Watts earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Telecommunications from Michigan State University. In 2019, she earned certification from the Harvard Kennedy School of Executive Education. She currently serves on the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy Board, the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (MI. Chapter), Wayne County Economic and Development Corporation board, the Brownfield Re-development Authority and Drainage boards.
