Kathleen Lomako of Livonia is the executive director of SEMCOG, the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments. She oversees a staff of 65 and a budget of $11 million. SEMCOG is a regional planning partnership of 173 member local governments and the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization for transportation planning and decision-making in the seven-county Southeast Michigan region. SEMCOG is responsible for planning and intergovernmental problem solving on a variety of multi-community, regional issues. She joined SEMCOG in 1979, and has been executive director since 2014. Lomako has a bachelor's degree in urban planning from Michigan State University and a master's degree in urban planning from Wayne State University.
