Mrs. Johnson is the Managing Director of the Road Commission of Kalamazoo County (RCKC) since November 2007.   As Managing Director, she oversees the operations of the road commission which maintains over 1,270 miles of county roads, bridges, and infrastructure. Prior to the RCKC she was employed by the Calhoun County Road Commission as its Assistant Managing Director for over 6 years. As a graduate of Western Michigan University (WMU)’s College of Business, her background also includes human resources and benefit administration. 

She is a current member and 2018/2019 Past President of the County Road Association (CRA) of Michigan, current Chairman of the Michigan Transportation Asset Management Council, current member of the WMU Civil and Construction Engineering and College of Engineering and Applied Sciences Industry Advisory Boards and past president of the Association of Southern Michigan County  Road Agencies (ASMCRA). She received the Distinguished Service Award from the CRA in March 2020. She has a variety of industry publications and continues to provide various industry training and presentations.  In 2016, she also received the American Public Works Executive credential.  In addition, she is also a member and past president of the Rotary Club of Kalamazoo – Sunrise and member of the Marshall Township Planning Commission.

Joanna participated and completed the Michigan Infrastructure Council’s Asset Management Champion program in 2021.
